Wilson Motorsports is a third-generation family endeavor, with an unusual twist: Wilson Motorsports is third-generations on BOTH sides of the family tree.

Tony Jr. and Tisha Wilson are the latest installment in the program. Both of their parents are racers in their own right.

While it is becoming ever more common for women to be in racing, a generation ago, it was much less so. But Teresa Wilson can be considered one of the pioneers, a “girl” in the sport of drag racing, with a father who was committed to let her try her hand at it, regardless of her gender.

Tony Sr. started driving his own race car as a teenager. He had spent his childhood at the track helping his uncles with their race car and could not resist the thrill of competition. Even now Tony Sr. is sometimes seen piloting a racecar down the quarter-mile.

While Tony Sr. and Teresa knew each other from school, it was the dragstrip that brought them together. They married in 1984 and each continued to race anything that had wheels, either in a straight line or in circles, until the third generation was born in 1986.
